Corporate Tax Rates Lower at Taxpayer Expense
YOUR tax rate is between 32-35%. Right?
The CORPORATE tax rate? Get ready!
In 1970 it was 40%
In 1980 it was 36%
In 1990 it was 28%
In 2008 it was 20.5%
In 2009 it was 18%
Last year, Suncor’s tax rate was 11%.
Government says it reduced the corporate tax rate to keep jobs in Canada. But the jobs, the well paying ones, quickly disappeared. We don’t “make” things in Canada anymore. We serve coffee, we bus tables, pump gas. As a result, several million more Canadians have become part of what is referred to as the working poor.
The jobs went to Mexico and other 3rd world countries enabling companies to make even more money, at taxpayer expense, and on top of the billions that automatically fell into their laps as a result of the tax cuts.
That’s the way our government does things. First they injure us then they insult our intelligence by telling us they’re doing it for “our” own good. Put another way, first they run us down, then they back up over us to make sure we’re dead.
These are the guys in the driver’s seat. It’s time we put a stop to them!
